Do I need a referral to see Dr Dubey?

Yes, a referral from your general practitioner (GP), Optometrist or another specialist is preferred to book an appointment with Dr Rahul Dubey. We can also see patients without referrals.

What can I expect during my first consultation?

Your first consultation at Brightsight Eye Specialists will include a comprehensive eye examination. Dr Dubey will review your medical history, discuss any symptoms you are experiencing, and perform diagnostic tests to assess your vision and overall eye health. Based on these findings, we will discuss your treatment options and next steps.

Cataract Surgery

What is cataract surgery?

Cataract surgery is a procedure to remove the clouded lens of your eye (cataract) and replace it with a clear artificial lens. At Brightsight, we specialise in premium cataract surgery using advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs) to give you the best possible vision correction.

How do I know if I need cataract surgery?

If you’re experiencing blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night, or sensitivity to light, it may be due to cataracts. Dr Dubey will perform a thorough examination to determine if surgery is necessary. Cataract surgery is typically recommended when cataracts begin to interfere with your daily activities.

What is the recovery time for cataract surgery?

Recovery from cataract surgery is generally quick, with most patients experiencing improved vision within a few days. Full recovery can take up to 4-6 weeks, during which time your eye will heal and adjust to the new lens. You’ll have follow-up appointments to ensure the healing process is progressing smoothly.

Retinal Conditions

What is a retinal detachment and how is it treated?

Retinal detachment occurs when the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of your eye, pulls away from its normal position. This is a medical emergency that requires prompt treatment to prevent permanent vision loss. Dr Dubey specialises in retinal detachment surgery, using techniques like vitrectomy and scleral buckle to reattach the retina and restore vision.

What are intravitreal injections and what are they used for?

Intravitreal injections are a treatment where medication is injected directly into the eye. This is commonly used to treat retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusion. These injections help to reduce inflammation, prevent fluid.

How can I manage diabetic eye disease?

Diabetic eye disease can cause vision loss if not monitored and treated. We recommend regular eye exams to detect any early signs of the disease. Treatment may include laser therapy, intravitreal injections, or surgery to manage the condition and preserve your vision.
